Slow Suicide Stimulus
'Roll Up' b/w 'I.C.U.'
Flo Spot | 2006
Slow Suicide Stimulus is Tame One’s latest project and consists of the former Artifacts member and the group Dusted Dons. They just finished a tour with Def Jux and are on the verge of releasing a full album in March.
First single of the album is 'Roll Up' b/w 'I.C.U'. No one else but hip-hop veteran and Cold Crush Brother Grandmaster Caz joins SSS, in what is to be called a gathering of raw, blunted voices with ease-back but sharp lyrics. Every MC steps to the mic with an attitude and fresh punchlines. Influenced by the weed smoke and the presence of the Dons, Caz even raps 'I’m smoking like a broke stove' over the hypnotic slow drums and piano stabs of producer DJ Mighty Mi and accompanied by a close-to-annoying chorus. 'I.C.U' has Camu’s typical electronic production style of synthesizer basses and strings, leavin this track with a dark and futuristic twist. Tame One really rips the mic and stands out with creative imagery and playful rapping, combined with a twisted flow, 'You want love like foofy-foof?' takin this track one step above being average.
'It’s the best thing to happen to hip-hop since the microphone' Tame One claims. Well, I wouldn’t put it that harsh, but it’s a good thing goin on here. Creative production, Tame’s raw voice, which he has in common with fellow rappers the Dusted Dons, but especially his creative rhymes stand out above the rest. 'Roll Up' is great, 'I.C.U.' is good, and the album will be well worth waiting for!
