The beats are some of the craziest ever made by The Beatnuts. And Chi-Ali? Hardcore, on a ruff tip ! Damn, only 14 years old and talking the biggest mouths in hiphop under table with his high tone, teen voice.

One of Sermon's funkiest solo albums is 'Double Or Nothing'. Somehow no one really paid attention to his debut albums, 'No Pressure' and 'Double Or Nothing', but they definitely are Sermon’s best. The beats on this album are mellow, mad funky bass lines with psychedelic samples.

Both MC’s can be considered as some of the tightest rhyme spitters of the moment. Rasco’s powerful, punchline flow and Planet Asia’s excellent rhyme technique are already legendary.

Nefertiti isn’t the greatest of female MC’s but the album features some great names: Diamond D produced 2 tracks, DJ Pooh did 6 cuts and Guru produced and features on 'No Nonsense' (scratches by DJ Premier!), an up-tempo funk track where Los Angeles and New York connect.

Of all the featuring artists only Diamond, Lord Finesse and Tony D went on to make name for themselves, and that’s a shame because there’s a lot of talent on this LP. The album is a celebration of rap music in 1989 !

The whole EP is a short, but delicious piece of contemporary hiphop music, leaving us eagerly awaiting for the next Count Bass D full LP. Class. Watch out for official Japanese and European releases of this EP in the near future!

In 1991 the Tonester went solo and dropped not only funky verses but also funky beats. The cover is dope: the green-white-red colours of his motherland and a picture that shows Harvee Wallbanger with sunglasses (he’s Italian!), chillin at the riverside.
